In December we packed our bags and our car and took a road trip (I know we do that a lot) to Utah, Idaho and Colorado. We knew it was the last time we were going to have the chance to see most of our family. We decided to make the best of it and hit all of our favorite food joints on the way. I forgot to take pictures at a lot of places. In fact, I think the only place I remembered to take a picture was at In 'N Out. Lucky you!
Our first significant stop was probably Javier's in Ogden, Utah. It has been a favorite restaurant of my family for probably 10 years. We went there with my dad and had a great time. Carson was imitating my dad's mustache and ran into a slight problem. He said that he couldn't eat because he had to have two hands for his mustache. Then he thought about it for a few minutes and decided that if he had four hands then he could use two for his mustache and the other two to "grab things." He is a funny kid. He had us all laughing until Dylan decided to take out some frustration on the waitress. She grabbed Randy's drink to get a refill and made the migstake of getting too close to Dylan's drink. As she walked away he grabbed his drink and told her "Hey Girl!!!! I'm not done yet!" I felt so bad for her. What a mean kid I have. It was pretty funny though.
Our next stop on the Great American Food Tour was Crown Burger in Layton, Utah. Just thinking about their burgers with pastrami is making me drool. I better not drool too much though because I am using Randy's computer. I love their fry sauce and miss all fry sauce desperately. It was, as usual, a delicious meal. If you live in Utah and haven't had the chance to go to Crown Burger, I urge you to do so. Order a burger with pastrami and you will not be disappointed!
After our brief stay in the Ogden area we headed up to Boise, Idaho. We stayed at Nana and Papa's house and I did most of the cooking while we were there. I think they enjoyed the food and the fact that someone else did the cooking. I made yummy chicken alfredo, a turkey, and a pork wellington. All the food was delicious. At least I though so. Randy and I did sneak out one night to go to my old workplace, Olive Garden. It was delicious as usual and we had a good time away from the kiddos. We spent Christmas at Nana and Papa's house and had a great time. Santa even managed to find us with our constant change of address.

| Downtown Caldwell Christmas Eve |
In Ogden, once again, we traveled to Provo to see the new baby in the family. She is such a cutie! We went to Grandma and Grandpa Great's house and had a delicious ham dinner with yummy potato and corn chowder. (Thanks Andrea and Grandma.) We spent New Year's Eve at my sister's house and had a small get together with her friends. There was a lot of great food and the kids had a good time playing with their cousins.
On New Year's Day we went to McDonald's with my family and met up with the rest of the cousins. While we were there Carson mysteriously disappeared. We found him laying on a chair watching TV. He invited us into his house and all laughed at his oddity. He is such a goofy kid. He disappeared one more time and this time we found him sitting with a bunch of teenagers just chilling and having a good time.
We headed up to Preston, Idaho to visit my mom and to enjoy some crisp bean burritos from Big J's. We also had our fill of El Tapatio, the local Mexican restaurant. (we really like Mexican food). I love the carne asada there. It is my absolute favorite. (Mom you can send me some!) We didn't stay very long in Preston and once again had to say goodbye. We headed to Colorado and on the way through Provo, we stopped by In n Out and met up with Andrea, Jarom and baby Alexis. It wasn't our first stop at In n Out on our Great American Food Tour, but we knew it was going to be our last. :( We love the California chain and support it every chance we get.
That concludes this episode of my blog. Be sure to tune in next time for the Adventures of the Jones in Colorado, followed by Moving to Japan.
